Process Overview

Efficient Progressive-Die Stamping

Precision stamping is the core process behind every Ruishuo Metal EMI shielding can. A progressive die performs blanking, forming, piercing, and trimming in a single continuous press cycle, so a flat metal strip is transformed into a finished shielding can in seconds—with the dimensional consistency that high-volume electronics manufacturing demands. This high-speed, repeatable process is what makes board-level shielding affordable at scale while holding tolerances tight enough for 5G and wearable applications.

Multi-Stage Progressive Die

Blanking, drawing, forming, and piercing completed sequentially in one press stroke for maximum efficiency.

One-Piece Shielding Cans

Seamless single-piece covers stamped to final shape, ideal for compact, high-shielding-effectiveness designs.

Two-Piece Frames & Lids

Stamped frames and removable lids with precise snap-fit geometry for rework-friendly assemblies.

Workflow

From Coil to Finished Shielding Can

1. Coil Feeding & Leveling

Metal strip is uncoiled, straightened, and fed into the press at a precisely controlled pitch to guarantee positional accuracy at every station.

2. Progressive Stamping

The strip advances station by station—blanking, deep drawing or forming, piercing, and trimming—until a complete shielding can is produced each stroke.

3. In-Die Sensing

Die-protection and missing-part sensors monitor every stroke in real time, automatically stopping the press if a fault is detected to protect quality and tooling.

4. Automatic Ejection & Collection

Finished parts are ejected and collected with anti-scratch handling to preserve surface finish and solderability.

5. In-Line & Sampling Inspection

Critical dimensions are verified by CMM and optical inspection under SPC control, with full inspection reports available on request.

Why It Matters

Process Advantages

High First-Pass Yield

Stable, closed-loop process control and in-die sensing keep defect rates low and quality consistent across millions of parts.

Tight, Repeatable Tolerance

±0.01mm precision and <0.05mm flatness ensure reliable SMT placement and a tight RF seal on the PCB.

Cost-Efficient at Volume

One die produces a finished part per stroke, driving down unit cost as quantities scale into the millions.

Broad Material Support

From solderable tinplate to corrosion-resistant stainless steel, the same process adapts to your shielding and environmental needs.

FAQ

Precision Stamping Questions

What tolerance can precision stamping hold for shielding cans?
Our progressive-die stamping holds dimensional tolerances of ±0.01mm and flatness under 0.05mm. This is tight enough for automated SMT placement and for maintaining a continuous RF ground contact around the can perimeter.
What material thickness range can you stamp?
We stamp shielding-can materials from 0.08mm to 0.5mm thick. Most board-level shields use 0.1-0.2mm tinplate or nickel silver, balancing shielding effectiveness, formability, and cost.
How does progressive-die stamping differ from deep drawing?
Progressive stamping moves the strip through multiple stations to blank, form, and pierce in one continuous run—ideal for high-volume two-piece frames and lids. Deep drawing forms a seamless one-piece can from a single blank and is preferred when a jointless enclosure is required.
What is the typical lead time and capacity?
With 20+ presses running up to 1,000 SPM and 3 million+ strokes of daily capacity, mass-production orders typically ship in 10-18 days. Rapid prototypes are available in as little as 7 days.
