What Our Design Support Includes

Getting an EMI shielding can right is as much about design as manufacturing. Our engineering team works with you before any tooling is cut—reviewing your PCB, recommending the optimal can type, material, and finish, and flagging manufacturability issues early. This free support shortens development cycles and prevents costly redesigns downstream.

DFM & Manufacturability Review

We assess wall thickness, draw depth, corner radii, vent patterns, and pad layout to ensure your design can be produced reliably and economically.

Shielding Can Type Selection

One-piece vs two-piece, frame-and-lid vs seamless—we recommend the structure that best fits your rework, cost, and shielding-effectiveness goals.

Material & Finish Recommendation

Guidance on tinplate, nickel silver, stainless steel, copper, or aluminum and the right plating for solderability, corrosion, and compliance.

Footprint & Pad Optimization

We help define solder pads, positioning feet, and ground contact for a reliable RF seal and clean automated SMT placement.

Rapid Prototyping Path

From CAD to physical samples in as little as 7 days, so you can validate fit and shielding before committing to production tooling.

Tooling & Production Planning

In-house tooling design with a clear path from prototype to mass production at your target volume and lead time.

FAQ

Design Support Questions

Is engineering design support really free?
Yes. DFM review, can-type and material recommendations, and footprint optimization are provided free as part of working with us. Our goal is to help you arrive at a manufacturable, cost-effective shielding design before tooling begins.
What files should I send for a design review?
2D drawings (DWG/PDF) and/or 3D models (STEP/IGS) are ideal, along with your PCB outline, keep-out areas, target frequency range, and any environmental or compliance requirements. If you only have a sketch or a sample, we can reverse-engineer it.
Can you improve an existing shielding can design?
Absolutely. We frequently optimize existing designs to reduce cost, improve shielding continuity, simplify assembly, or fix manufacturability problems—while keeping your form, fit, and function intact.
How long does a design review take?
A typical DFM review is returned within 1-2 business days, with optimization suggestions and a quotation. From an approved design, rapid prototypes can follow in as little as 7 days.
